today the catalogue for Nancy Scali came back with a sad notice; Nancy has been ill the last years and now I found the message online that she has passed away:

Born October 28, 1946, passed away June 3, 2011, in Claremont, CA. She graduated from Chaffey High School, in 1964, and Chapman University, in 1968, with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Art. Nancy later earned elementary and administrative credentials and taught in the public schools for 35 years. She retired from the Ontario/Montclair School District in 2008. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Scali; her son, Ian; and a brother, Houston Dewey of Clifton Virginia. Nancy was 64 years of age.

another slight critic to the exhibition you can read here, which says more or less:

"Mail Art Bismarck has brought a variety of dazzling interpretations, but hardly any serious (even critical) effort on the historical acclaim of this person. what a pitty. Peter Martin from Gräfendorf"

o.k. I suppose he has not spent so much time in the exhibition, because there is even a whole showcase which is about the historical acclaims of Bismarck, and even critical. far beyond that, you can find in any other showcase and installation lots of interpretation about his political efforts, but you have to look intense, there are more than a thousand images to see, maybe he has not seen the wood for the trees... what a pitty that he has seen all that.

it is boring and many objects

o.k. this is her cowardly opinion, she did not wrote her name, so I was forced to write "coward" underneath. Interesting to mention also: the museum opened at 14 o'clock, I came along about 14.20 and nobody has been in the museum so she must have been left already, she went to the museum for a maximum of 20 minutes to look around, not only for the exhibition, but she got time to write these lousy sentence inside the guestbook, no more to say,. anyway she could have do sniping, right at the table where this guestbook is laying there a pencils and the Takako pot to modify, but she does not...

Finally I found one of these old cigarette machine (here one from the 1970ies) which will be integrated in the mail art exhibition as an ARTOMAT. I will pick them on thuesday and hopefully it will work fine. I hope I can find some artists who will participate in this interactive project, you can send your multiples in (at least 10) for this ARTOMAT, it must be fit inside a cigarette box. (size ca. 86 x 55 x 22 mm) - your art work can be related to Bismarck (this would be fine) but not necessarily. Each multiple should be signed and addressed, so maybe the buyer could get in contact with you. Each participant of this ARTOMAT project will get a free copy of the mail art catalogue which will be published in May. Yes, I finally got the fundraising for it - that's the good news for easter. Please get in contact with me, if you are interested.
